Get hooked on fishing and hiking at the Illinois Department of Natural Resources' Fishing and Night Hike Program!
Meet at the Pere Marquette Visitor Center for an educational program on fish and fishing at 5 p.m., with urban fishing coordinator Scott Isringhausen. Following the talk, young kids can fish at the Blue Gill pond right next to the visitor center.
At 7:30 p.m., families will learn about owls and other creatures you might hear at night when outdoors fishing, camping, or hiking, etc. Afterwards the group will take an approximately two-mile, partially uphill night hike to listen for owls and other night sounds. There will be a hot dog and marshmallow roast afterwards.
Please bring one flashlight per family. Refreshments and drinks will be provided.
