Great Eagle Watching Adventures
The crisp cool air and open waters of the Mississippi Flyway are a refuge for eagles, Trumpeter Swans and visitors alike throughout the Great Rivers & Routes region. Open waters in the area become a winter home to the eagles, and from late December through early March every day is eagle day with self-guided eagle watching tours and events. The eagles, and the entertainment, don’t stop there, though. The Virtual Alton Eagle Festival kicks off the season the first Saturday in January. The majestic birds can also be seen around Pere Marquette State Park, Horseshoe Lake, Beaver Dam State Park and Lake Lou Yaeger, among other hot spots across the area.
