As the waters begin to freeze at the confluence of the Illinois and Mississippi Rivers, the Loading Dock Ice Rink offers a place like no other to enjoy winter right on the riverfront.

The Loading Dock Ice Rink is housed inside the historic Boatworks building at The Loading Dock. It is the ideal spot to savor the crisp air and to take a step back in time and discover that the building has a storied history including serving as a boat factory and, once upon a time, was a button factory.
Skating across the pearl colored ice is reminiscent of the days when buttons were made from mussel shells that were brilliantly lined in the color that now shimmers as the floor of the ice rink.
Glide round and round the rink but be sure to take a break and step outside and enjoy the winter riverfront scenes. You might catch a glimpse of a towboat and barge running the rivers or an American Bald Eagle, Trumpeter Swan or occasionally, the lost flock of pelicans still making their way south for the winter.

Saturdays: Noon to 10 p.m. & Sundays: Noon to 8 p.m.

Open Daily from Noon to 10 p.m. Nov. 22 - 26 & Dec. 22 - Jan. 2
Open 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Christmas Eve
Closed Thanksgiving and Christmas Day
Open MLK Day and President's Day 11 a.m. - 6 p.m.
