Greene County
Its western boundary defined by the serene Illinois River, Greene County is 500-plus square miles of rolling fields and green woodlands spotted with small towns and down-home values. The National Register of Historic Places includes a host of Greene County sites, many in its county seat of Carrollton and in nearby White Hall. The Two Rivers National Wildlife Refuge branches into the county as well, a popular destination for bald eagles in the winter months. Come see everything this peaceful, picturesque county has to offer.
Carrollton
The county seat of Greene County, Carrollton is home to a municipal pool, spacious parks and several locally owned restaurants. Among the most popular is The Dairy Bar of Carrollton, which has been serving up sweet treats since 1953. The town square is a masterpiece, evolving each day.
White Hall
A rural community, White Hall is just off the Great River Road in Greene County. The small town has plenty of things to keep visitors busy, including the White Hall Reservoir for outdoor enthusiasts and the Gregory House Museum for history buffs. Festivals at the town’s different parks provide entertainment for visitors and natives alike throughout the year.
