Mark your calendars for January 9, 2027, as the Alton Eagle Ice Festival returns for its 18th year! This beloved annual celebration highlights one of the region’s most incredible natural experiences, the winter migration of American bald eagles.

Thanks to the confluence of the Mississippi, Illinois, and Missouri Rivers, the Great Rivers & Routes region is one of the country’s premier wintering areas for bald eagles. The Alton Eagle Ice Festival brings visitors and residents together to experience and celebrate these incredible birds through a variety of family-friendly activities, wildlife educational opportunities, live eagle meet & greets, ice carvings, entertainment, local food and drinks, markets, and more!

With festivities taking place at multiple locations throughout the Alton area, there will be plenty of opportunities to enjoy the season and experience the region’s incredible wildlife and celebration.
