A group of new paintings by Dr. Andy Dykeman will be exhibited at Sacred Grounds Coffee in Edwardsville from March 29 - April 26 with an opening celebration from 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. on March 29. Refreshments will be served with free beer and wine. Live music will be performed by a special guest(s). The show is curated and sponsored by The Gogh Getters.
Dr. Dykeman is a chiropractic physician in East Alton who also played drums in the influential pop punk band, Judge Nothing.
Dykeman’s paintings express his experiences in his life as a doctor, forensic autopsy assistant, punk rock drummer and untrained painter. His influences include Frank Netter and Matt Sesow, Mikey Welsch and anatomy, the CoBrA movement and Butch Anthony, histology and Basquiat, Norris Embry and punk rock. His use of acrylics and house paint literally reveals an inside view of outsider art.
