Celebrate the Winter Solstice Sunday, Dec. 21 marking the shortest day and longest night of the year in the northern hemisphere.
This event takes place at Woodhenge, west of Monks Mound on the Cahokia Mounds site. This event respects Native American cultures by not including any ceremonies but does include an information talk about the discovery, function and signficance of the pre-Columbian calendar.
