Blueridge Farms
For a true country vibe with a touch of local history, a visit to Blueridge Farms of Hardin is a delight, especially for gardening and food enthusiasts. This fruit and vegetable farm is an all-year family business that brings the bounty of summer to visitors and locals alike. Everyone enjoys the juiciness and distinct flavor of the Red Haven peaches, late June through September, from the orchard's trees. Peaches, watermelons, strawberries, squash, tomatoes, apples, and other fruits and vegetables from the farm are ready - in season - for purchase at the Blueridge Farms 4-Square Market in Hardin. Evergreen trees, grown and cut for the Christmas season, are available at the market during December.
Hardin is located on the Illinois River, near the historic Joe Page Bridge. Built in 1931, this bridge is the southernmost crossing over the river, connecting the Illinois counties of Calhoun and Greene. In spring, the area's peach trees are laden with blossoms, promising summer's harvest. In fall, a drive through the rolling hills showcases a spectacular color display.
