Brussels Historic Village Jail

131 E. Main Street
Brussels, Illinois 62013

Can you imagine having to sleep standing up? One time, that's what the men in the Brussels Historic Village Jail had to do in Brussels, a small town in IL with big history. Once known as the local "calaboose," the Brussels Jail was built around 1876 and centered in the heart of the village. The jail mainly housed men overnight for drinking too much and the last person to stay in the jail was in 1952.
