Docs Just Off 66

133 S 2nd St
Girard, Illinois 62640

Since 1884, Docs has served the people of Girard as a pharmacy, general store, soda fountain, museum, and Route 66 icon. Started by pharmacists Wyman and Robert Deck and adding a traditional soda fountain in 1929, the shop once sold drugs, paints, glass, books, and stationery. The shop has become a landmark of Girard and the Mother Road and is part of the Route 66 Hall of Fame of Illinois.

Serving up nostalgia, the historic venue and restaurant offers American diner classics like cheeseburgers, patty melts, grilled cheese sandwiches, chicken salad, roast beef, French fries, and all of your childhood ice-cream favorites like floats, shakes, sundaes, and phosphates! Satisfy your sweet tooth on an old-fashioned candy or soda with syrups like cherry, vanilla, and chocolate. Kick back in the 50's lounge atmosphere and enjoy the Route 66 memorabilia dating back to the late 1880's- before the Mother Road even existed! Docs is a must-see stop for all travelers seeking out Route 66 history, a satisfying meal and a delicious dessert!
