The Glen Carbon Heritage Museum’s building is a testament to Glen Carbon. After spending 40 years as a schoolhouse, the building spent another 40 years as Village administration offices and housed the police department. It served as the library before eventually becoming the museum it is today. As well as being listed on the National Register of Historic Places, this museum features an immense collection of Glen Carbon artifacts that range from mining tools to Native American stone tools, from photos of residents to the toys they played with as children.

Visit the museum Tuesday, Thursday, or Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Call 618-288-7271 or email gcmuseum@glen-carbon.il.us with any questions or to schedule group and private tours.
