Grafton Riverfront
Grafton, Illinois 62037

Along the banks of the Grafton riverfront the Mississippi and Illinois rivers converge and blend into one mighty river, The Mississippi, as it continues its journey south. The riverfront is a great place to watch the waters flow by, enjoy a beautiful sunset, or look for wintering bald eagles diving for fish. The riverfront includes a faux lighthouse, erected to symbolize the resilience of the town of Grafton after the devastating flood of 1993. Next to the lighthouse flies the largest American flag on the Mississippi River. The flag pole rises 130 feet above the bank and a 40 x 80-foot American flag waves in the river breezes. East of the lighthouse, look for the giant concrete snapping turtle, frog and catfish sculptures which remind visitors of the creatures that make the rivers their home. The Grafton Ferry landing is nearby offering weekend, seasonal transportation to and from St. Charles County, Missouri.
