Great Rivers Bird and Bike Trail

Great Rivers Bird and Bike Trail

  • Hours:
Dawn to Dusk 7 days a week

Stretching from Hartford to Grafton, the Great Rivers Bird and Bike Trail is a great place to watch for eagles, pelicans, and other wildlife. Endorsed by the Missouri Audubon Society, view migrating warblers, herons, egrets, and hundreds of other bird species native to the region and enjoy gorgeous views of the great rivers. The best time to see America's national animal, the bald eagle, is in the winter months, particularly late December through January. Pull off at one of the many scenic stops along the trail to watch the regal raptors build their massive nests, hunt, and don't forget to stop by the Alton Visitor's Center on weekends in January to meet an eagle in person! Alton and Grafton have great shopping opportunities and restaurants. Pause your pedaling and enjoy some midwestern hospitality as you explore one of the region's most beautiful pathways!
