Liberty Apple Orchard grows 21 varieties of u-pick apples, and there is no fee to access the orchard! Starting in mid-August, Gala, McIntosh, Jonathan, Honeycrisp and Blondee apples will be the first of the varieties ready for picking. By early September, Empire, Liberty and Cortland apples will be available, followed by Fuji "September Wonder" and Ultra Gold varieties. In early October, find Sweet Zinger, Braeburn and Ludacrisp, followed by Enterprise, Evercrisp, Candycrisp, Fuji "Super Red," and Goldrush. Ready for picking in late October are Pink Lady and Granny Smith.

While visiting Liberty Apple Orchard, pick up some delicious apple butter, apple cider and applesauce made from fresh their apples. You'll also find baked goods - including apple cider donuts on Saturdays - and local honey from the hives on site.

Bring the family to this thriving orchard, located just east of Edwardsville, to see a replica of a one-room schoolhouse and shop local goods at the farm market. Partnerships with 222 Artisan Bakery and Ella & Ollie Popcorn add even more goodies to the store. Choose from gourmet popcorn, handmade chocolates, popcorn seasonings, jams, jellies, preserves, salsas, baking mixes for apples, and even handmade aprons.

Liberty Apple Orchard also hosts the annual "Going Gold Kids Fest” to benefit pediatric cancer research by the American Cancer Society. This exciting day in mid-October (check website for date) is filled with activities for kids, live music, great food, and more! Check out the cider making demonstration, using an antique cider press; a beekeeper demonstration; pony rides; and the petting zoo, too.
