MCT Confluence Bike Trail

MCT Confluence Bike Trail

Overlooking the beautiful Mississippi River, the paved MCT Confluence Bike Trail stretches 20.5 miles from Alton to Granite City. The Confluence Trail has stops at multiple attractions such as the National Great Rivers Museum, the Melvin Price Lock and Dam, and the Lewis and Clark Confluence tower and historic site. Take a break and take gorgeous photos of the Clark Bridge in Alton or take the 3 mile long connector trail to the Old Chain of Rocks Bridge. Stop in Alton or Granite City for something to eat and unique local shopping experiences!
Be sure to keep an eye out for white-tailed deer, blue herons, snowy egrets, pelicans, and bald eagles on the way. American Bald Eagle viewing is best in the winter months, particularly in late December through January. Take the kids along to spy America's national animal and learn about conservation and the confluence's colorful history!
