Step into nature at Silver Lake Park- located on 100 acres, the park offers over 4 1/2 miles of wooded walking trails, 5 pavilions, 18 holes of disc-golf, and public boat access to Silver Lake- visitors can kayak, paddleboard, and fish. Utilize the park’s archery range, climbing wall, or sand-volleyball court or plan a field trip at the Highland Regional Arboretum.
Silver Lake Park is dedicated to animal and prairie conservation programs and the lake and lands are home to many varieties of water fowl- including pelicans- white-tailed deer, raccoons, opossums, and more- making the area perfect for bird-watching, and wildlife observation.
The park at Silver Lake also hosts Highland’s annual Spring Bloom Festival, celebrating the season with gardening and environmental lecturers, children’s activities like scavenger hunts, and a free petting zoo- as well as spring plant and flower vendors.
