The Soul Asylum, formerly the Curiosity Museum, is a wonder of the bizarre and the macabre. See over 1,000 relicts of a historical, informational, and spooky nature. The exhibit is located in the ballroom of the historic and purportedly haunted Mineral Springs Mall. Find exhibits on torture devices, dark local and world history, serial killers, medical oddities, and the hauntings of Alton- known as the most haunted small town in America!

New exhibits include local artifacts from the Enos Apartments building, McPike Mansion, and other haunted Alton sites. Illusions, ghost hunting kits, Victorian Vampire Killing kits and more are also featured. From robots that watch you wander through the displays to the curious world of quack medicine, there is a bit of everything in this 1,500 square foot museum dedicated to the just plain weird.
