The International Mother Jones Festival returns May 3 from 1–3 p.m. Celebrate the legacy of legendary labor activist Mother Jones with an afternoon of history, music, and community.

Festival Activities Include:

  • Live Music: Traditional and contemporary labor songs performed by Wildflower Conspiracy and Piasa Canyon
  • Food & Refreshments: Local food trucks, B & K Bakery cookies, plus soda and lemonade
  • Children’s Programming: Hosted by Macoupin Art Collective, including Mother Jones readings and hands-on activities
  • Live Entertainment: “Magic and Medicine” performance by Magician Dr. Longhair Randy Thompson
  • Antique Fire truck
  • Mother Jones exhibit at the Mount Olive Public Library
  • Tours of the Mother Jones Museum
  • Shopping: Commemorative and souvenir items available from Friends of the Mother Jones Museum, including travel mugs, T-shirts, books, and magnets
  • Special Readings: Cheryl Eicher Jett reading from Aprons Away: Women’s Work on Route 66 and Richard Stimac presenting original Mother Jones poetry
  • Docents at the Mother Jones Monument and tours of the Union Miners Cemetery from 3-4 p.m.
