Light up the Great River Road

Where can you go to enjoy live music paired with spectacular fireworks? Think Thursday nights in Alton and Grafton.

Both communities, located along the Meeting of the Great Rivers National Scenic Byway just outside St. Louis in Illinois, will be home to the sounds of live music and dazzling night time fireworks displays every Thursday night from June through September.

The final two weeks of spectacular light shows along the Mississippi River in both communities will be held Thursday, Sept. 9 and Thursday, Sept. 16. Both shows will begin at 8:30 p.m.

On Thursday, Sept. 16, a final extended show will be held lasting approximately 22 to 25 minutes. In addition to the fireworks, the Alton Marina will have a free concert featuring The Owlz Band. The community is invited to attend and bring lawn chairs. There will be a cash bar. No outside coolers allowed. The concert will start at 7:45 p.m. and last until 10:45 p.m.
