Arch City Opera Project presents Susannah

Join the Arch City Opera Project for its inaugural production of Susannah by Carlisle Floyd — one of the most powerful and enduring American operas. This compelling drama tells the story of a young woman in a small Southern community who is falsely accused and ostracized, exploring timeless themes of judgment, innocence, and redemption.

Featuring Karen Kanakis and Jacob Lassetter, this fully staged production is directed by Marc Schapman and conducted by Joseph Welch. The performance serves as the centerpiece of the Arch City Opera Project’s mission to build the next generation of operatic voices through mentorship, professional development, and collaborative performance opportunities.

The Arch City Opera Project brings together artists from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, Webster University, and Tessitura Music, creating a dynamic environment where emerging singers perform alongside faculty and professional artists while gaining valuable career experience.
