Here's a bit about Joe! Joe Barr is an elite ultra-endurance cyclist who, in 2023, won the World Ultra-Cycling Association’s prestigious World Cup and World Championship.
He is a multiple world record holder and set the first Guinness World Record on Ireland’s Wild Atlantic Way, racing over 1,600 miles with 81,000 ft of climbing in 127 hours.
Joe has been racing bicycles for over fifty years. He won a medal at the 1986 Commonwealth Games and has represented Ireland in multiple World Championships.
In 2009, at 49, he found ultra-endurance and hasn’t looked back since. He is a two-time winner of the Race Around Ireland and a two-time finisher of the Race Across America, having won his age category in 2019.
His autobiography, ‘Going the Distance – The Making of a World-Class Endurance Cyclist,” was published in 2021.
Joe remains a highly respected and recognized competitor at home and abroad.
