The Children's Arts in the Park series provides a unique & vibrant arts experience for children on multiple Saturdays during the summer in City Park. For 2026, young artists will get to explore a variety of materials and techniques related to various story genres, thanks to the creative efforts of the Edwardsville Arts Center. The teachers are practicing artists and art educators.

Because the art classes are formatted to allow kids to work at their own pace, they are suitable for ages 4 to 10. However, If a parent wants to help their 3-year-old make art or if a 12-year-old wants to participate, they are welcome!

2026 Children's Arts in the Park Schedule:
JUNE 6 - Red: Artists will build mushroom gnome houses, a sculpted bonfire and participate in a collaborative rainbow piece that will be worked on throughout the summer series.
JUNE 20 - Orange: Artists will make yarn-wrapped lizards and snakes and a large painted sun collage, plus add orange to the collaborative rainbow.
JUNE 27 - Yellow: Artists will make a bee and honey collage and paint a sunset, plus add yellow to the collaborative rainbow.
JULY 11 - Green: Artists will create faces on trees and small forest sculptures with animals, plus add green to the collaborative rainbow.
JULY 18 - Blue: Artists will make a collaborative painted collage of the ocean and its inhabitants, sculpt a mini surfboard and add blue to the collaborative rainbow.
JULY 25 - Purple: Artists will create wands and wizard staffs using objects found in nature, draw secret maps, create fairy or dragon wings to wear and finish the collaborative rainbow artwork.
